Description
I recently got my hands on a physical copy of W.I.T.C.H. #1 and was reminded of a lot of good times. It's crazy how long it's been since I did much of anything related to W.I.T.C.H.
But here is a story on how Frost the hunter went from a common guardsman to a top henchman.
Now that I'm older, and a little wiser (but not by much), I've begun reinterpreting prince Phobos, the fist major villain of the series. Knowing more about the origins of Metamoor and Meridian, as well as his behaviour in later story arcs, I wanted to portray Phobos as a villian with a major inferiority complex. Meridian has always been ruled by women and hardly any note is made of the royal males in any continuity. Even Phobos and Elyon's father is never brought up while their mother makes a handful of appearances every time Phobos and Elyon are together in a story arc.
Add to that Phobos'. blatant sexism and the way he isolates himself in his garden (Element that were dropped from the TV show for some reason) and I think this is an interesting interpretation of the character to explore.
Going back to earlier W.I.T.C.H. issues to reference the appearance of the murmurers, I've noticed they're actually really creepy with their androgynous appearances, glaring eyes and sharp teeth. So I've decided to go full force on that with their thin limbs, weird stance and personal space invasion. I also imagine them as creatures that can come out of nowhere to creep up on people.
I can't draw Frost the Hunter to save my life... >_<
Hope you enjoy.

The writer reminisces about reading W.I.T.C.H. and reinterpreting Prince Phobos as a villain with an inferiority complex.
